Chapter 5

Snag, Canada

1 o clock Sunday Afternoon

Sun would not rise in this country for the next one year, Henry declared while checking the book “Skyfall” whose pages had gone wet due to snowfall. The ink of the yellow pages was vanishing and partially visible. Spiky cone-shaped swords were still falling from the sky even much bigger than the before from the last two days.

“What? David astonished, looking at him into the side view mirror of the car. Sun will not rise for one year! Have you gone mad? By the way, who are you? We would drop you at the next safe place. Be ready!”

“So you think there’s some safe place ahead. Good job man! Excellent job! He laughed a bit. You will not find any safe place even not in this country right now.”

“Whatever! We would drop you at the next, whether safe or not, we don’t bother, David declared without any humanity.”

“What? Olivia his wife interrupted him in the middle! How can you do this David?” Look at her! Her hand is bleeding and broken. Blood is flowing from her deep cut wound. Are you becoming selfish for yourself, she yelled, offended inside!

“Yeah! I am selfish. I am selfish for my family. I want to save my family. We don’t have anything. No food, no shelter, how can you think about helping a stranger, what do you have? What can you give them? We have a car whose diesel is going to empty in few hours, David spluttered, gripped his hand tightly on the lavish steering.”

Hey listen, both of you, we can’t help you. We have lost our little baby in this blizzard and I don’t want to lose my family. “Temperature is favourable and we have to find a safe place to stay with my family at night; he sobbed. And how can you say that sun would not rise? Why we trust you? Obviously, you are a stranger. We can’t trust you anymore.”

And David stops the car in the middle of the road, full of snow up to 2 feet, only allowing the car to crawl.

“David, you can’t do this, Olivia said unconsciously.”

“I can help you! Henry insisted me. I can take you out from this blizzard. I know everything about this. Only I can save you from this. Are you getting what I am saying?”

“I can’t...... suddenly the Pearl picked my bare hand tightly, with the intention to stop me. Dad, please! I was still seeing the faces of everyone and my mouth was stitched with her love. I didn’t want to break her heart. I accepted her decision closed the door.”

“Sir! Look outside and see these spiky cone-shaped ice swords, listen to the disturbing voice and tell me, would we really able to save our self? Henry said and pick out the book from his pocket again. Canada is going to end in next two days and you would not be able to do anything except seeing the destruction under your nose. When God wants new beginnings, he takes the help of nature.
